Wilma works as a server at an assisted living facility for seniors. She takes orders from residents, and communicates meal adjustments to the kitchen. However, her hearing loss impacts her communication with residents, co-workers, and management.

Naida was looking for work in northern BC. However, she found that she was facing barriers — she is deaf in her left ear, and she also has hearing loss in her right ear. This makes meetings challenging, and she has trouble in noisy settings.
Dougie has had low vision since birth, with 20/300 vision acuity. Last August, Dougie left his corporate job of 15 years, in part because he found it difficult to get the workplace accommodations he needed. While he was able to do some part-time work for a non-profit that he had volunteered with, he was having difficulty finding full-time employment.

Our physical head office is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, specifically the territories of the Kwikwetlem, xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations.
